Glorious Winter Day Fishing

Another wonderful day on the blue ribbon waters in Cherokee, NC.  The water temperature: 42 degrees, atmospheric temperature: 45 degrees.  This 20" beauty, with roe, was one of four in the 20 inch category plus 4 others not quite so large.....plus some other "early release" ones.  The morning fly du jour was a #12 olive wooly bugger, beaded.  The afternoon choice was a beaded #12 Prince Nymph (ish).  Seems like the feet are in their comfort zone at 38 degrees plus.  Our Native American friends have done the fly fishermen of the Smokies proud.

A special thanks to my new fast friend and fellow addicted  flyfisherman, Billy Lamar (with constant companion Etta), for sharing with me so much local knowledge and his friendship. And another special thanks to Matt owner of Waynesville Fly Shop for his unselfish counsel on local fishing and flies.
Cherokee, NC.  February 2009 - Air temperature: 32 degrees.  Water temperature: 31 degrees.
A beautiful sunny day and this river rewarded me with a 22" Rainbow and two very very cold feet.
This posting is presently under construction.
This blog is for the purpose of sharing fishing knowledge and experiences that other fly fishermen will find interesting and informative.  Any exchange of information or other blogs of this nature from fellow flyfishers will be appreciated.
